Health Infrastructure of Singapore
Specialists, dentists, etc
If you have a prescription from your home country, you will not be able to get the prescription filled in a Singaporean pharmacy. Instead you will need to visit a local doctor and get the same or similar prescription.
To make things easier it is wise to bring along your existing prescription to show the doctor and to make sure you get the same or similar drugs. You can then get the medicine at most supermarkets or pharmacies. These are typically opened from 9am until 6pm although some remain open until 10pm.
As of 2008, there are six specialized institutions in Singapore that specialize in everything from dentistry to eye care. If you need to go to the hospital, there can be different options in the type of room you stay in. This is especially more common in private hospitals. For different costs, you can stay in either a single bed, two bed, or four bed room at the hospital.
