My wife have a criminal record in Russia

• I am UK citize, was born in UK. My wife lived with me 1 year in London and then returned for a 3 months to Russia. And it was happened, that her boss didn't pay her money and she stole this money ( about 3000 pounds), when it was opened she returned all money back during 3 weeks. But the court sent her to a prison for 3 years. She was release after 2.4 years and now she applied for visa. But the UK Embassy refused. Now we are preparing an appeal witj a lawyer, but I am very worring. Pleaae give any additional advice.
