NemKonto

An account for receiving public money

NemKonto

A NemKonto (EasyAccount) is a bank account through which you receive any public payments; state benefits, refunded tax, public salary etc. The law requires everyone in Denmark to assign one bank account as their NemKonto. It is easy to assign one and even foreign accounts are accepted.

The Danish Law now requires every person older than 18 years old to have a NemKonto. This is a normal bank account that you assign as a NemKonto. Via this system, you will receive state benefits (such as pensions, student loans, social welfare payments etc.), tax returns and your salary if you are paid by a public institution.

How to get a NemKonto

There are several ways you can assign a bank account as a NemKonto . If you have an existing bank account in Denmark, or you are in process of opening one, just let your bank know that you would like to assign it as a NemKonto.

An alternative option is to do it online , but for this, you need to have a NemID or electronic signature.

If you don’t have a Danish bank account, you can name a foreign bank account as your NemKonto. To do this, you need to fill out a registration form  with your CPR number and send it to the address mentioned in the form.

Activation

After you have successfully registered one of your accounts as a NemKonto, you will receive an activation letter to activate your account. This letter will be in Danish but you can see an English translation here .
